Certified Protocol

Certification of the Surface Processing and Treatment Protocol

What is Leader Medica's Certified Surface?
The LM CERTIFIED PROTOCOL covers the processing and treatments applied to the surfaces of Leader Medica dental implants, as illustrated in the downloadable diagram. To ensure successful dental implant osseointegration, the surface parameters taken into account are—on the one hand—roughness, and—on the other—cleanliness and purity. "Roughness" refers to the deviations of peaks and valleys in surface irregularities, calculated along a linear path traced across the surface; "cleanliness and purity" refer to the absence of localized accumulations of contaminants on the implant surface.
are.

Who created it?
The LM CERTIFIED PROTOCOL was developed, refined, tested, and validated by Leader Medica’s engineers, chemists, and technicians in collaboration with Professor Luigi Canullo (UniCamillus University, Rome).

For what reason?
The CERTIFIED LM PROTOCOL was developed to maximize surface roughness quality, purity, and cleanliness, as well as to make these parameters predictable and repeatable.

Is it real?
Leader Medica utilizes a state-of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) to verify and image the surface roughness and cleanliness of dental implants following the processing and surface treatments specified in the LM CERTIFIED PROTOCOL. The images documenting roughness (at 8,000x magnification) and surface cleanliness (via energy-dispersive spectrometry) are produced by Leader Medica and provided to the clinician alongside the specific dental implant from the batch verified using SEM-EDS.

Final Results
The results achieved through the machining and treatments specified in the LM CERTIFIED PROTOCOL—in terms of surface roughness quality, purity, and cleanliness—are classified as EXCELLENT:
1.    a surface roughness (Ra) of 1.3 µm;
2.    a profile of absolute surface purity and cleanliness (0.00% aluminum, 0.90% carbon) based on a verified sample of 5,000 dental implants.
